The Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge will also include a broad array of resources for medical and graduate students, postdoctoral and clinical fellows, residents, and faculty, as it creates vibrant new connections with Stanford Hospital & Clinics, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, the main Stanford campus, and the wider community.
Designed by NBBJ, the five-story, 120,000-square-foot Learning and Knowledge Center is strikingly modern in its design. The building celebrates the spirit of multidisciplinary learning and research by clearly exhibiting its contemporary features in dramatic open spaces and through the porous nature of the design, while simultaneously offering a variety of settings for quiet study and peaceful contemplation.
Construction began in April 2008, with a targeted completion date of December 2009 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the School's relocation from San Francisco to Palo Alto. The Li Ka Shing Center for Learning and Knowledge is estimated to cost $90.2 million.
