Thansk for your reply man. Masters in Urban Planning huh? That's pretty cool. So are you interested in becoming a planner full time, or work for a firm where you can be a planner and LA too? What are you doing right now for work?
What is it about Texas that draws you here? Fort Worth has a good economy, compared to the rest of the country, but it's still in recession. We just had layoffs right before Thanksgiving, but it was a corporate decision from CA. We're all 100% billable in our office, but Jacobs sees us as a whole, not individual offices. Therefore every office had to let someone go. Luckily I stayed. As a matter of fact, the only other person here with me is Justin Kmetzsch. He was laid off at Design Workshop in North Carolina a few years ago, and at the time we were hiring. It worked out really well. Fort Worth is a big city, and he actually lives in the next neighborhood over. Same ward and everything. It wasn't planned that way, but it's cool carpooling with him. So anyway - we're worried about our jobs just like everyone else, but we're grateful to have them. Just about everyone I know that stayed in UT has been laid off. Most have found other jobs. When I told Justin about your e-mail and how you want to come down here, he said we shoudl switch:) I would like to be back in UT...eventually. I like TX right now though. If I hear of any firms hiring I'll let you know.
Bonzai 3D is pretty cool. A lot like Sketchup, but kicks butt over the curved surface market. Pretty neat stuff.
